While CBS and its parent company Paramount Global navigate a high -ranging lawsuit by President Donald Trump, the media conglomerate quietly resolved another lawsuit claiming racial discrimination against righteous male employees.
In 2024, former coordinator and writer of the “Seal Team” script and writer Brian Beneker sued Paramount Global, CBS Entertainment and CBS Studios for illegal discrimination for his constant denial of career progress based on his race, sex and sexual orientation.
According to the First Legal America (AFL), who represented Beneker in this case, both parties finally agreed on a solution after what Afl Nick Barry described as satisfactory movements from Paramount to publicly renounce diversity, capital and inclusion policies (Dei).
“America First Legal is pleased to see Paramount and CBS publicly give up their dei demands and return to deserving -based considerations. Diversity quotas that discriminate on the basis of race are illegal. Others in the entertainment industry should take into account,” Barry said in a statement Monday.
Fox News Digital arrived at CBS and Paramount for comment.
A AFL spokesman also told Fox News Digital that there will be no further legal action on the matter.
The original judicial proceeding stated that, despite working on the performance since its first season in 2017, Beneker was constantly denied promotion to full -time staff writer while minority writers were employed with little or no experience.
When confronted with the presenter, Beneker claimed that he was told that he did not “control any diversity boxes” to guarantee progress.
AFL also quoted comments from CBS George Cheeks CEO then in 2020 announcing efforts to provide 40% of all writers’ rooms have “bipoc representation” for season 2021-22, with the aim of increasing the figure to 50% for season 2022-23.
In February 2025, Paramount Global Heads informed employees that he would turn these initiatives into the wake of Trump’s re-election and anti-dei policies.
This no longer involves the use of “numeric aspiration goals” for employment and completion of its policy for collecting race data, ethnicity, sex or gender of potential applicants, unless required by law.
The announcement came as Paramount Global agreed on mediation with Trump’s legal team earlier this month, signaling a $ 20 billion claim against them.
Trump is looking for $ 20 billion in a lawsuit against CBS, claiming intervention in his election to handle a “60 -minute” interview last year with the then President Kamala Harris. The president accused the network of assisting his 2024 democratic opponent through deceitful editing just weeks before the presidential election.
